Melissa Peterson (Navajo) is currently a doctoral student at KU in Higher Education Administration. Melissa is also the Associate Director for the TRIO STEM project at KU, the Haskell/KU Exchange Program Liaison, the Advisor for the First Nations Student Association, and the President of the Native Faculty and Staff Council. In her free time she is working on her dissertation where she is examining the relationship between Native college students’ scholarship awards and engagement in educationally purposeful activities, specifically in the form of student-faculty interaction, and the effects this relationship has on their degree completion and aspirations for higher levels of postsecondary education.
